A new report released today by WCS shows real world examples of how conservationists in the U.S. have successfully changed their conservation strategies to adapt to climate change.

NEW YORK (March 8, 2018) — A new study by scientists from WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) and other groups predicts that the effects of climate change will severely impact the Albertine Rift, one of Africa’s most biodiverse regions and a place not normally associated with global warming.

New research published today in Nature Ecology & Evolution demonstrates the extraordinary value of Earth’s remaining intact forests for addressing climate change and protecting wildlife, critical watersheds, indigenous cultures, and human health.

December 19, 2017 -- The following statement is by WCS Senior Conservation Scientist George Schaller on allowing drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which is part of the tax bill expected to pass Congress and be signed into law this week. June 22, 2017 - WCS's Adirondack Program announces a call for volunteers to survey loons on Adirondack lakes as part of the 17^th Annual Adirondack Loon Census. The event will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. Participants can choose which lake in the Adirondacks they want to survey when they sign up.

June 15, 2017 -- Cool Effect^TM, a non-profit organization curating the world’s premier carbon reduction projects, announced the addition of Madagascar’s Makira Natural Park Project to its platform in partnership with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Individual contributions to the project will reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and conserve the rainforest’s endangered plants and species.
