The Bronx Zoo Joins Honeybee Keepers and Sommeliers on World Bee Day, Tuesday, May 20
New York, May 19, 2025 -- On World Bee Day, Tuesday, May 20, honeybee keepers and sommeliers will hold demonstrations about the importance of the bee to nature and our health. A contest will determine which NYC borough’s honeybees produce the best tasting honey. To buy tickets to the Bronx Zoo go HERE. The Bee Month activities are available for all admission tickets.
The event is being held as bee colonies are collapsing, and scientists stress the need to protect them as pollinators are key to crop production.
The zoo is home to the Butterfly Garden which is a great example of how to raise native plants to attract bees and other pollinators.
