Watch baboons, mongoose, and other wildlife receive wrapped presents that hold their favorite treats

Every Saturday and Sunday in December at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Toy and food drive: Those who donate a new toy and/or ten food items will receive a ticket to the Bronx Zoo**

Brooklyn, N.Y. –December 2, 2011– The holidays are a favorite time of year for all New Yorkers – including the residents of the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Prospect Park Zoo who will be celebrating with bags and boxes filled with tasty treats.

Each Saturday and Sunday in December, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., zoo-goers can watch as the Prospect Park Zoo’s Hamadryas baboons, Pallas's cats, red pandas, mongoose, and other animals receive their gifts.

Presents for the animals are a form of enrichment. Prospect Park Zoo provides this and other types of mental and physical stimulation to keep the animals’ minds and bodies healthy and active.

Presents for the animals, Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

  • December 3/4: red pandas and Geoffrey’s tamarins 
  • December 10/11: baboons and Pallas’s cats
  • December 17/18: golden lion tamarins and dwarf mongoose
  • December 24/25: meerkats and North American river otters

In the spirit of the holidays, the Prospect Park Zoo has teamed up with the Brooklyn Borough President’s office and City Harvest to collect toys and food for families in need.

Visitors can bring their new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to the zoo for distribution by the Borough President’s office and City Harvest.

In appreciation for their generosity, those that make a qualifying donation of a new, unwrapped toy and/or ten food items through Saturday, Dec. 31 will receive a ticket to the Bronx Zoo.**
