Hundreds Attend the Third Annual Sip for the Sea to Support the Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium and WCS’s commitment to marine conservation locally and around the world

The eco-friendly event will feature wines from Jekel Vineyards and sustainable food selections from New York City’s top restaurants

New York – Sept. 16, 2015 – PHOTO RELEASE – Eighteen of New York City's best chefs paired their food with great wine from the Jekel Vineyards at Sip for the Sea 2015 to benefit the WCS’s New York Aquarium. Hundreds attended the event, which raised awareness about the importance of sustainable seafood.  All proceeds will support the New York Aquarium and WCS’s commitment to marine conservation locally and around the world.

Chefs from the following restaurants participated in Sip for the Sea 2015: Almond;  Astellina; Atlantic Grill Lincoln Center; Casa Mono, Clement at The Peninsula; Crave.It;  Davio’s Manhattan; Esca; Hudson Market Bistro at Sheraton NYC; Hundred Acres; Luke’s Lobster; Monument Lane; Ocean Grill; Sirio Ristorante; Tavern on the Green; Thalassa Restaurant; Union Square Events; and The Wayfarer.

Sustainable seafood was served, making Sip for the Sea a win for conservation. With many fish species facing serious threats such as over-fishing, sustainable seafood options help ensure the longevity of diverse and healthy ocean ecosystems around the world.

Wildlife Conservation Society's New York Aquarium is open every day of the year. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Fall/winter/spring hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., daily. Tickets are $11.95 per person (ages 3 & up), and include Aquarium admission plus one admission to the new 4-D Theater; children age 2 and under are admitted free. Fridays after 4 p.m. in the summer and after 3 p.m. in the fall, Aquarium admission is by pay-what-you-wish donation. The aquarium is located on Surf Avenue at West 8th Street in Coney Island. The New York Aquarium is located on property owned by the City of New York, and its operation is made possible in part by public funds provided through the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
