Six Suspects Arrested in Malaysia for Illegal Activities in Protected Area
(Lubok Antu, April 06, 2018) The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Royal Malaysian Police and the Armed Forces announced today that a joint enforcement operation conducted in Lanjak Entimau Wildlife Sanctuary in Malaysia resulted in the arrest of six suspects on March 22nd.

Nest Protection Program Secures the Fledging of Nearly 7,000 Birds in the Northern Plains of Cambodia
Preah Vihear (3 April 2018) – Since 2002, WCS, Ministry of Environment (MoE) and community members have protected 3,800 nests of 11 globally threatened bird species, leading to the fledging of 6,806 birds in the Northern Plains of Cambodia.

NEW YORK (March 20, 2018) – The Sukabumi District Police, with support from the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)’s Wildlife Crimes Unit (WCU), announced the arrest of a wildlife trafficker illegally trading in pangolins and pangolin parts in Indonesia.

A Bird in the Bush Equals Money in the Hand
Vientiane - Lao-PDR  (February 28, 2017) – A new study by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and Foundations of Success (FOS) finds that an ecotourism strategy based on “direct payments,” where local people are compensated for the amount of wildlife seen by tourists, has resulted in a reduction in illegal hunting and an increase in wildlife sightings.

Three Critically Endangered Red-headed Vulture Nests Discovered  In Cambodia’s Chhep Wildlife Sanctuary
Preah Vihear (29 January 2018) – In January, three nests of the Critically Endangered Red-headed vulture were found in Chhep Wildlife Sanctuary by conservationists from the Ministry of Environment (MoE), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and local communities. The population of this species in Cambodia is possibly less than 50 individuals. These nest discoveries give hope that conservation efforts may save this species from extinction
