Conservation is bringing new hope for the security and stability of a remote forest outpost in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo, with the signing of a new partnership agreement to manage the Okapi Wildlife Reserve between Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and the Government’s Nature Conservation Agency, ICCN.

The new study by WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society), the University of Miami, and Universidad de Puerto Rico have detected a decrease in the average size of adult queen conch (Lobatus gigas), possibly the result of fishers using shell length rather than thickness as a reliable indicator of age.

WCS has fitted six elephants with GPS/satellite collars over the past two months in Nigeria’s Yankari Game Reserve.
