APRIL 28, 2016 – Want to use your yoga practice to save elephants? WCS’s 96 Elephants campaign – so named for the number of African elephants killed every day by poachers – is launching the #ElephantYogaChallenge, a social media campaign to raise awareness and funds through yoga.

March 23, 2016 – WCS’s Andrea Turkalo, one of the world’s foremost experts on forest elephants, recently released information about two animals from her study site killed in 2013 when poachers from the Seleka rebel group infiltrated the Dzanga Bai forest clearing and slaughtered some 26 animals.

March 3, 2016 – The online trade in ivory and related wildlife products is rampant in Hawaii, which remains one of the United States’ major markets for ivory, according to a new report by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Humane Society International (HSI), The Humane Society of the United States(HSUS), the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

November 4, 2014 - Washington voters have spoken out for elephants by overwhelmingly passing I-1401, which bans the trade in parts of elephants and other wildlife.

WCS and the 96 Elephants campaign praise the California Senate for passing AB 96, state legislation that would ban the sale of ivory and rhinoceros horn in the state of California.

New York - July 30, 2015 - The United Nations General Assembly today passed a sweeping resolution that targets the global problem of wildlife trafficking, calling on all 193 UN member states (governments of the world) to take on a series of actions to “prevent, combat, and eradicate the illegal trade in wildlife.”
