Adult Male Gorillas Call More During Feeding Than Females, Juveniles
 February 24, 2016 - Adult male gorillas in the wild ‘sing’ and ‘hum’ more during feeding than their younger or female counterparts, according to a study published today in the open-access journal PLOS ONE by Eva Maria Luef and Simone Pika at the Humboldt Research Group at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology, Germany, and their colleague Thomas Breuer from the Wildlife Conservation Society in New York.

Conservation groups call for more protection for rays as well as sharks in new 10-year strategy

San José, Costa Rica (February 15, 2016) – A group of experts from international conservation organizations is announcing a new strategy for combating the decline of sharks and closely related rays, while warning that the rays are even more threatened and less protected than the higher profile sharks.

Two WCS Scientists Are Finalists for World’s Leading Award for Animal Conservation
(NEW YORK- February 9, 2016) WCS is pleased to announce that two of its scientists, Dr. Joel Berger and Dr. P. Dee Boersma, have advanced as finalists for the 2016 Indianapolis Prize.  This announcement was made by Indianapolis Prize officials today as the six finalists for the world’s leading award for animal conservation were revealed. In recognition of their success in the conservation of at-risk species, Berger and Boersma join fellow finalists Dr. Rodney Jackson, Professor Carl Jones, Dr. Carl Safina and Dr. Amanda Vincent.
